Lana'i
We took a charter from Maui over to the island of Lana’i. On the way over, one of the ladies on our boat pointed out a resort on the island and said “that’s where Bill Gates had his honeymoon. He rented out the whole place.” So I guess rich people like Lana’i. The diving there was nice. The visibility was ok, but the swell was strong that day and kept pushing us (and the sea life) around.
Our first dive site was Second Cathedral, best known for its lava swim-throughs and 100 year old black coral. Apparently it’s rare to see black coral because 1- it usually grows in deeper water, and 2- most of it has been harvested for jewelry in this area.
Again, all video credit goes to Nicolas. But if you feel like giving me credit for being his muse, I won’t disagree with you. That would just be rude.
In this next video, you can see the current sweeping the fish from side to side.
We also dove at a site apparently called “No Name Reef.” Seems pretty unoriginal. So here’s a video of me “dancing” underwater . When my students used to dab, I definitely judged them for it. But I am convinced that when I do it, it’s cool.
